With a deep-rooted passion for sharing the flavors of her heritage, Sophia started JeunJu to bring the authentic taste of Korea to her neighbors. The name itself is a tribute to the city of Jeonju in South Korea, known as the birthplace of iconic dishes like bibimbap.
Murray Hill Food Alley, known in Korean as 먹자골목 (Mukja Golmok), is a commercial district in Queens, New York that developed in the 2000's as Korean businesses expanded eastward from Flushing Main Street. Centered around the Murray Hill LIRR Station, the area features a variety of Korean restaurants, cafes, bakeries, and shops that serve both the local Korean-American community and visitors. Beyond food establishments, the district is home to community organizations and cultural events, making it a significant hub for Korean culture in Queens. What began as a neighborhood serving Korean Americans has grown into an accessible destination for anyone interested in experiencing authentic Korean food and culture in New York City.
At JeunJu, every dish reflects Sophia’s dedication to tradition. This evening promises a feast of Korean classics prepared with care and served alongside stories of Sophia’s journey and the rich culinary history of her homeland.
